My Journey: From a Slow IBM Desktop in Malindi to Building a Digital Empire.

My name is Marsha Digital, and this is where I document exactly how I’m building a passive income business from scratch.

But before we talk about affiliate marketing and Adsense, you need to know that I didn’t start as a guru.

In fact, my journey started with a very old, very slow computer and a lot of daydreams.

The “Hacker” Dream & The IBM Reality

I was born in Malindi, Kenya, and attended Methodist Primary School. Like a lot of kids, I was obsessed with movies.

I’d watch these action films where hackers would type furiously on keyboards, scrolling through green code, bypassing security systems in seconds. I was fascinated. I wanted to know: How do they do that?

Luckily, my dad brought home a desktop computer. It was an IBM.

If you know computers, you know this machine was ancient. It was incredibly slow.

But to me? It was a spaceship.

I would spend my entire weekend on that thing. One tab open on the browser, playing simple games, just clicking around. If you asked me now what was so fascinating about staring at a lagging screen all day, I couldn’t tell you! Haha.

But that was the spark. That was the beginning of my love for computers.

The “Corona” Pivot

I carried that love to Dr. Krapf High School (Class of 2015), where I used my dad’s laptop to Google everything I could about the tech world.

I knew my path was set. I joined Kabarak University in Nakuru to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in IT.

Then, in 2020, Corona hit.

Everything closed down. I was back home in Malindi. But instead of sleeping all day, I decided to dive deep. I switched my laptop to Linux OS. I wanted to finally become that “movie hacker” I dreamed of as a kid.

I watched hours of tutorials on cyber security. And you know what I realized?

I hated it.

It just wasn’t for me. But as one door closed, another one opened.

I met a friend who ran a printing shop called Mwaca Graphics. He introduced me to design. I started learning Corel Draw, and suddenly, everything clicked. I wasn’t a hacker; I was a Creator.

The Cold Email That Changed Everything

By the time I returned to campus, I was designing logos and posters for friends under the name Masha Graphiqs, which later became Marsha Creative Solutions.

I was in my 4th year, browsing the web for inspiration, when I stumbled upon a brand called Creative Kigen.

Their work was clean. Professional. Top tier.

I saw they did website design—something I had touched on in class (HTML/CSS) but never mastered. I had only built one simple site hosted on Netlify.

I took a shot in the dark.

I sent Kigen a random cold email. I told him I loved his work and asked for an internship.

And Yeah! He called me back.

I am forever grateful for that call. Kigen didn’t just give me work; he gave me a roadmap. He shared a free HubSpot Course on Building WordPress Websites with me.

I devoured that course day and night. In one week, I was done.

Sacrificing for the Dream

Kigen gave me my first real challenge: “Buy your own hosting and build your own website.”

As a student, I didn’t have much. I had to sacrifice the little money I had to buy my domain: marshacreatives.co.ke.

That was the birth of Marsha Creatives.

I finished campus and started working alongside Kigen. We built amazing projects for clients. He pushed me to blog, to use social media, and to treat my skills like a real business.

Shout out to Kigen! Cheers, Bro!

Going Global (TikTok & Beyond)

By early 2024, the sleepless nights paid off.

I started building a community on TikTok. Suddenly, I wasn’t just getting clients in Nakuru or Nairobi.

I was getting requests from Germany, Jamaica, USA, South Africa, Tanzania, Australia… the world was watching.

I was working remotely, getting referrals, and scaling up.

In early 2025, I partnered to help build Host Kenya, a hosting brand that is taking over the Kenyan market. I even integrated hosting services directly into my own agency site.

The New Chapter: Marsha Digital

Things were going great. But I realized something… I was still trading my time for money.

Toward the end of 2025, I started watching videos by Ferdy Korpershoek. He was talking about a different way to live: Passive Income through Google Adsense and Affiliate Marketing.

I binge-watched his Affiliate Marketing Tutorials, and the spark I felt back in Malindi with that old IBM computer returned.

I decided to give it a try.

And that is how Marsha Digital was born.

This isn’t just a blog; it’s a documentation of my next evolution. I am documenting the entire process—the wins, the failures, and the money—publicly on YouTube.

We are going to figure this out together.

Let’s build.
